PayPal at online casinos: what the casinos state and alternatives in Austria

Values per casino compared.

How we collect the data →

Search queries from Austria leave little doubt: "paypal casino", "online casino paypal" and "casino online mit paypal" are among the most frequent questions about paying at an online casino, joined by variants such as "casino paypal einzahlung" (deposit) or "online casino paypal auszahlung" (withdrawal). For the five brands whose cashiers are analysed here, the answer is short. At Spinanga, Lunubet, Bassbet, Spinrollz and Kingmaker, PayPal is not listed in the Austrian cashier, neither for deposits nor for withdrawals. "Not listed" means exactly that: PayPal does not appear in the cashier data for Austria. None of the five brands gives a reason for this, and this page does not supply one on their behalf.

What the Austrian cashiers list instead is shown method by method in the overview of payment methods compared. This page starts from the wish to pay with PayPal and follows it through the cashier data: which e-wallets are actually listed there, why Skrill and Neteller play a special role with the welcome bonus, how a withdrawal to an e-wallet works and what the government bill amending the Austrian Gambling Act plans for payment service providers.

That PayPal and casinos often do not go together is also reflected in forum posts, although the country of the authors is unclear. One user notes briefly about a casino wallet: "( Paypal wird nicht unterstützt )", meaning PayPal is not supported. Another received this message when trying to deposit with a bookmaker via PayPal: "Leider können wir ihren Einkauf momentan nicht abschließen" (unfortunately we cannot complete your purchase at the moment). A third writes that "seit dem casino verbot für paypal einzahlungen", since the casino ban on PayPal deposits, he switched to Sofortüberweisung. These are player statements, not an official rule.

The information on this page is based on the cashier lists, terms and conditions and bonus terms of the five brands for Austria. Where Casino.Guru, AskGamblers or LCB keep different lists, this is shown as a deviation alongside, without giving preference to any source.

PayPal at the five casinos

The cashier lists of the five brands for Austria are built the same way. Listed are eps for deposits, Visa and Mastercard for deposits and withdrawals, bank transfer in both directions, Revolut in both directions, MiFinity in both directions and Skrill for withdrawals only. On top of that comes a long row of cryptocurrencies. Spinanga and Bassbet also list PlayID. Not listed in the data at any of the five are PayPal, Paysafecard, Klarna/Sofort, Trustly, Neteller, Jeton, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Neosurf and CashtoCode.

Spinrollz shows particularly clearly how far cross-country third-party lists and the cashier for Austria can drift apart. Casino.Guru counts 24 methods across countries and names Skrill, Neteller and PaysafeCard as deposit methods. In the operator's payment list for Austria, Neteller and PaysafeCard are missing and Skrill appears only on the withdrawal side. According to the payment list, no fee is activated for any Austrian method, and support is available around the clock via live chat and e-mail. All of the brand's figures are collected on the page on Spinrollz Casino payment methods.

Third-party lists. Casino.Guru, AskGamblers and LCB keep much longer lists for the brands, but without reference to Austria. For Spinanga, Casino.Guru names 38 methods worldwide, including Neteller, Skrill, PaysafeCard and eps transfer; AskGamblers adds Rapid Transfer, Volt, eZeeWallet and Jeton. For Lunubet, Casino.Guru counts 51 methods across all countries, for Bassbet 38 worldwide. PayPal does not appear in the excerpts of these lists on which the data set is based. For Austria, the operator's cashier list is what counts in any case.

Amounts. Queries such as "online casino paypal 5 euro einzahlung" or "paypal casino einzahlung 1 euro" show that small amounts are often what people have in mind with PayPal. In the Austrian cashiers, card, bank transfer, Revolut and MiFinity have a lower limit of €10 at Spinanga, Bassbet and Kingmaker and of 10 EUR at Spinrollz. Lunubet asks for €20 according to the Austrian cashier and "usually €10" according to its FAQ. For eps, Spinanga, Bassbet and Kingmaker state €15, Spinrollz 15 EUR, and for Bitcoin all five state €30. Which amounts apply per casino and method is summarised on the page on the minimum deposit. For the welcome bonus, all five brands require €20.

Fees. The cashiers of the five brands show no deposit or withdrawal fee for any Austrian method; Kingmaker lists the fee fields per method as 0.0000. There is, however, a cost rule in the terms: under clause 6.8, the operator may retain 10 % of the last deposit, at least 0.5 EUR, as payment costs if less than the deposit amount is wagered before a withdrawal, and 15 % for bank card or bank transfer. How PayPal substitutes, cards, bank payments and crypto fit into the overall picture is shown in the overview of online casino payment methods for players from Austria.

E-wallets as an alternative

Anyone looking for PayPal usually wants a wallet between the bank account and the casino: depositing without entering card details at the casino and bringing winnings back to the same account. In the Austrian cashiers of the five brands, MiFinity comes closest to that role. It is the only e-wallet listed for both deposits and withdrawals at all five. Skrill appears only on the withdrawal side, Neteller and Jeton are not listed in the data, and neither are Apple Pay and Google Pay. Revolut is listed in both directions at all five.

MiFinity in figures. The minimum deposit is €10 at Spinanga, Bassbet and Kingmaker, 10 EUR at Spinrollz and €20 at Lunubet according to the Austrian cashier. Per deposit, the cashiers state €2,500; that is above the maximum for cards at €2,000 and below that for bank transfer, Revolut and crypto at €5,000. On the withdrawal side, Spinanga, Bassbet and Kingmaker require €10 for MiFinity, Spinrollz 10 EUR and Lunubet €20 according to the Austrian cashier.

Kingmaker is a good example of the gap between a global list and the Austrian cashier. For the brand, Casino.Guru names Skrill, Neteller, PaysafeCard, Neosurf, MiFinity, Jetonbank, CashtoCode, Revolut and MuchBetter, among others. In the Austrian cashier, what remains of these is MiFinity and Revolut in both directions and Skrill for withdrawals. The fee fields are set to 0.0000 per method and the fee is not activated. According to the operator, e-wallet payments are processed "quickly", without a time frame. According to Casino.Guru, the website, support and live chat are available in German. The other figures are on the page on Kingmaker Casino payment methods.

Own account. The same rule applies to every e-wallet as to cards: all five brands require the payment method to belong to the player; Spinanga and Lunubet explicitly pay out only to accounts in the player's own name. Bassbet explicitly treats the use of someone else's payment means as fraud; Spinanga, Bassbet, Spinrollz and Kingmaker prohibit money transfers between customers. During verification, Spinanga and Lunubet ask for bank, e-wallet or credit card statements, usually covering 1–3 months.

Card instead of wallet. Anyone who has mainly used PayPal with a stored credit card will often end up with Visa and Mastercard in the Austrian cashiers. Both are listed in both directions at all five; in the cashier, the deposit is usually called "Pay by Card" and the withdrawal "Withdraw to Card". Per deposit, the cashiers state €2,000; the lower limit is €10 at Spinanga, Bassbet and Kingmaker, 10 EUR at Spinrollz and €20 at Lunubet according to the Austrian cashier. Bassbet, Spinrollz and Kingmaker write that credit card transactions take somewhat longer because a bank processes them first. What applies to Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay in detail is described on the page on credit cards at casinos.

Skrill and Neteller: bonus exclusions

Skrill and Neteller are the two e-wallets that all five brands single out in their bonus terms. At the five brands, both are excluded from the welcome bonus: the bonus terms of Spinanga, Lunubet, Bassbet, Spinrollz and Kingmaker list Neteller and Skrill as excluded methods. In the Austrian cashier, Neteller is not listed anyway and Skrill only for withdrawals. The exclusion therefore mainly affects players who know Skrill from other casinos and expect to trigger a bonus with it here as well. Spinrollz states explicitly in its bonus terms that Neteller and Skrill deposits are excluded from the welcome bonus.

Bonus terms. At all five, the welcome bonus requires a minimum deposit of €20; 35 times deposit plus bonus must be wagered within 10 days, and free spin winnings 40 times. The offers themselves differ: Spinanga and Bassbet give 100 % up to €500 and 200 free spins on the first deposit, Spinrollz 100 % up to 500 EUR and 200 free spins, spread at 20 per day over 10 days. Lunubet offers a welcome package of 300 % up to €1,500 and 300 free spins across three deposits, Kingmaker 100 % up to €500 and 50 free spins on the Royal Fortune Wheel. The maximum bet is 100 EUR at Spinanga, Lunubet and Spinrollz; at Spinrollz, withdrawals from bonus money are capped at 10 times the bonus.

Spinanga shows how different the sources for one and the same brand can look. Casino.Guru names Neteller, Skrill and PaysafeCard globally, while the short list in the help centre, which depends on location, names bank transfer, Sofort, Visa, Mastercard, Giropay and several cryptocurrencies. The cashier for Austria, by contrast, has no Skrill deposit. There is also a peculiarity in the terms: the live English version v1.12 contains a new clause on a minimum turnover of 20 EUR per month that is missing from the archived German version v1.8. The full set of figures is on the page on Spinanga Casino payment methods.

When Skrill debits but the casino does not credit. There are several voices from Austria on this, though without naming the casino. One player writes: "30 euro mit skrill einbezahlt aber das geld kommt nicht auf das casino konto", meaning 30 euros paid in with Skrill never reached the casino account. Another sums up his situation: "The bank has confirmed. Skrill has confirmed." The casino still had not credited the deposit. The obvious question is whether to contact Skrill or the casino. Among the five brands, Spinanga and Lunubet state a waiting time: in the vast majority of cases deposits are credited "almost instantly", but it can take up to two hours. For a missing deposit, Spinanga asks for a screenshot of the transaction with name, account number and details. The next steps when a deposit not received case arises are covered on a separate page.

Another voice from Austria names the methods the player still uses for deposits: "ich zahle dort aber wenn nur mehr mit Paysafecard und Skrill ein", meaning the player now deposits there only with Paysafecard and Skrill. At the five brands covered here, neither is listed in the data for deposits: Paysafecard appears in no Austrian cashier, Skrill only on the withdrawal side.

Withdrawing to an e-wallet

On the withdrawal side, the Austrian cashier lists two e-wallets at all five brands: Skrill and MiFinity. For Skrill, the minimum withdrawal is €10 at Spinanga, Bassbet and Kingmaker, 10 EUR at Spinrollz and €20 at Lunubet according to the Austrian cashier. The lower limits for MiFinity are the same. So anyone wanting to cash out to an e-wallet will find a way in the cashier, even though PayPal is missing.

Same method. The terms of all five provide that, wherever possible, withdrawals go back via the same method used for the deposit. Lunubet adds: if the deposit method is not available for withdrawals, the player chooses another option, with bank transfer as the fallback. Spinrollz and Kingmaker reserve the right under clause 6.10 to pay out via a different payment system, and Spinanga and Bassbet use similar wording. Whether a withdrawal to Skrill is accepted after a deposit by card or eps is not explicitly regulated in the terms.

Limits. At VIP level 1, Spinanga, Lunubet, Bassbet and Spinrollz apply €500 per day and €7,000 per month; for Kingmaker, only Casino.Guru states 500 EUR per day and 7,000 EUR per month, while the terms contain no amounts. At Spinanga and Bassbet, a maximum of 3 withdrawals may be pending at the same time. Bassbet staggers the daily limit at €500 on levels 1 and 2, €800 on level 3, €1,000 on level 4 and €1,500 on level 5; the monthly limit rises from €7,000 on level 1 to €20,000 on level 5. At Bassbet, payment processing is handled by Mirata Services LTD, based in Cyprus, and according to Casino.Guru the live chat runs around the clock in English. More on the page on BassBet Casino payment methods.

Timing in two phases. First, the casino processes the request. Spinanga states 3 working days; Bassbet, Spinrollz and Kingmaker also state 3 working days, Monday to Friday from 6–17 GMT. Lunubet states 72 business hours at VIP level 1, 48 at level 2 and 36 at levels 3–5 according to its terms, but four working days according to its FAQ. Kingmaker additionally shows "Transaction may take 1-5 working days" in the cashier. Then comes the wallet: according to Spinanga, money can appear in e-wallets shortly after the payout, according to AskGamblers it takes 0–24 hours, according to LCB it is "Instant". Lunubet writes in its FAQ that, after processing, the money may arrive shortly after the payout. Bassbet, Spinrollz and Kingmaker speak of quick processing, without a time frame.

Documents before the first withdrawal. Before money flows to an e-wallet, the casinos check whether the account belongs to the player. All five require proof of ownership of the payment method and the transaction history. Bassbet and Spinrollz set a deadline of 30 days for the documents and usually check them within 10 days; Kingmaker also asks for submission within 30 days. Bassbet and Kingmaker additionally require ID and proof of address. At Spinanga, deposits and withdrawals may be blocked until verification is complete.

When the method disappears. A player from Austria reports, without naming the casino: "neteller payout was not available anymore. Only a few P2P cashout options are available." He wanted to cash out to Neteller and the option was suddenly gone. At the five brands covered here, the fallback rule in the terms is decisive for this case; Lunubet names bank transfer explicitly. It makes sense to check in the cashier which withdrawal routes are currently shown before submitting a request.

Prepaid as a substitute. In forums, Paysafecard also comes up as a workaround. To the question of where one can deposit with a regular Sparkasse card even without online banking, one answer is to buy a Paysafecard at a petrol station. At the five brands, that does not help: Paysafecard is listed in no Austrian cashier, neither for deposits nor for withdrawals. What applies to prepaid cards, limits and the route to a withdrawal is on the page on Paysafecard at casinos.

Payment service providers in the draft amendment to the Gambling Act

Under § 3 GSpG, gambling in Austria is reserved to the federal state. For the role of payment service providers, government bill RV 594 d.B. provides for new rules that do not yet apply. Payment blocking under § 56e is planned: notification and the order to cease are to go to "den am Zahlungsverkehr Beteiligten, insbesondere den Kredit- oder Finanzdienstleistungsinstituten", that is, those involved in payment transactions, in particular credit or financial services institutions. Entry into force is planned with the end of 31.12.2026. As of 09.10.2026, the bill is with the Finance Committee and deliberations have not yet begun.

For e-wallets, the wording is telling precisely because it is open. It names those involved in payment transactions and mentions credit and financial services institutions only "in particular". Which providers are to be covered in detail cannot be read from the quoted passage, and the data set contains no separate classification for PayPal, Skrill or MiFinity. How the monopoly, banks and planned payment blocking fit together is explained on the page on the legal situation in Austria.

A rule that is already in force concerns balances held in electronic wallets. Under § 19 of the E-Money Act 2010 (E-Geldgesetz), redemption conditions including fees must be stated "im Vertrag zwischen E-Geld-Emittenten und E-Geld-Inhaber eindeutig und klar erkennbar", clearly and recognisably in the contract between the e-money issuer and the holder. Anyone who withdraws casino winnings to an e-wallet and then transfers them on to a bank account will therefore find the costs of that redemption in the contract with the wallet provider, not in the casino's cashier.

The bank as an alternative. For many players, the direct route via the bank account is the obvious alternative to PayPal. Bank transfer is listed in both directions at all five brands, marked as SEPA at Spinanga, Lunubet and Bassbet, with €5,000 per deposit. The minimum withdrawal by transfer is €10 at Spinanga, Bassbet and Kingmaker, 10 EUR at Spinrollz and €20 at Lunubet according to the Austrian cashier. For the bank leg, Spinanga states 3–5 working days after the payout, AskGamblers 3–7 days for the same brand; Lunubet states 3–5 working days in its FAQ. Bassbet, Spinrollz and Kingmaker give no information on this. Clause 6.8 is worth noting: for bank transfer, the cost rate for deposits that have not been wagered is 15 %.

The player who switched to Sofortüberweisung after PayPal dropped out fits this picture, but not the five cashiers: Klarna/Sofort is not listed in their data, whereas eps is, for deposits of €900 per transaction. How bank transfer, eps and Sofort differ is shown on the page on paying by bank transfer.
